2010-01-03 Coyler Colts 2 vs 1 Under 10s Gold
Despite taking a first half lead the Golds went down to a penalty midway through the second half against Colyer Colts. Whether it was adapting to the slippery conditions or may be too much Christmas pudding to many of the players just didn’t enjoy their best of games. The two stand out players who this can not be said of are Shania and Amy – both of whom had exceptional games, and were complimented by the opposing manger.
During the first half the Golds midfield players were constantly being caught out of position which left the defence exposed and it was mainly down to Amy and Shania that the scores level remained level. From their first real attack the Golds took the lead when with the Colts keeper out of position the ball found its way to Zachary who from a tight angle calmly passed the ball in to the empty net. The lead lasted for only about 5 minutes when a Colts player broke free to equalise.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with the Colts having the majority of possession, but with neither team really creating any clear goal scoring opportunities. The turning point came when the Colts were awarded a penalty and despite Connor’s excellent attempt to save it the ball found its way in to the corner. From then on with the Golds pushing forward in search of a goal it was Zak who had replaced Connor in goal who kept the Golds in the game by making a few good saves. Despite their efforts the Golds couldn’t find the equaliser and the game finished with a final score of Colts 2 v Golds 1.
Player of the match – Amy, Well deserved for an outstanding performance, probably her best in a Golds shirt!
Parents player of the match – Zak, for a number of good saves after being asked to play in goal.
