2010-01-17 Under 9 Gravesham Town Red 1 vs. 3 Northfleet Eagles Red

The score line doesn't reflect how close a game this was. All credit to Gravesham Town Red they've worked hard and have become a much stronger side.

Gravesham Town caught us napping from our own kick off and almost straight away we came under pressure which ended up with a miss hit cross confusing everyone and sailing into the top of our net. Being a goal behind (something we haven't experienced for quite some time!) made us start to play a bit of football and the first time we put a few passes together TJ was clean through and wasn't going to miss bringing us level again, 1-1.

After a good strong battle, with the first half nearing its end, another great passing move made a bit of space for Ryan H. to grab us a second goal and settle the nerves a bit before we reached the half time break.

The second half saw more hard fought football with Zac and Alfie doing a great job of keeping some talented opposition away from our goal and the midfield working hard on creating chances at the other end that we just couldn't seem to tuck away. Just as we thought it was going to finish 2-1 Tyreece unleashed his right foot from the edge of the box to grab our third and break the hearts of Gravesham Town who were throwing everything at us to try and grab an equaliser.

A tough well fought game today where no one gave up saw Zac and Alfie take the Parent's and Manager's Man of the Match honours for their parts in keeping Gravesham at bay. Some goal stopping tackles and brave headers from both of them made us all proud of one of the strongest defences in the league.
